Terms of use
Last updated October 6, 2026. By using Heat & Tap you agree to these terms. The site is operated by MadGrey LLC.
What this site is
Heat & Tap publishes editorial guidance about water heaters. It is general information for consumers, written from manufacturer documentation and public sources. It is not professional advice, it is not a substitute for a licensed plumber, electrician or gas fitter, and it is not an engineering specification for your particular building.
Safety, and where our guides stop
Water heaters involve pressurized water and either combustion gas or high-current electrical circuits. Our how-to guides deliberately stop at the point where a licensed professional is required, and they say so on the page.
- Gas work, including altering a gas line or venting, is licensed work in most jurisdictions. Do not do it yourself on our say-so.
- Electrical work on 240 V circuits and service panels is licensed work in most jurisdictions. The same applies.
- Local code governs, always. Where we cite a model code section, your jurisdiction may have amended it. Your inspector is the authority, not this website.
- If you smell gas, leave the building and call your gas utility from outside.
Accuracy
We work hard at accuracy and we name our sources on the page. Even so, specifications change, models are discontinued, and documents are revised. Always verify a specification against the current manufacturer documentation for the exact model number you intend to buy before you buy it. If you find something wrong here, please tell us.
Affiliate links
This site contains affiliate links and earns commission on qualifying purchases, as set out in the affiliate disclosure. We are not the seller of any product linked from this site, we do not handle your order, and we are not party to your purchase contract. Pricing, availability, shipping, returns and warranty service are matters between you and the retailer or manufacturer.
Third-party sites
We link to manufacturer documentation, code commentary, retailer listings and government resources because naming a source is better than asserting a fact. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content or their availability.
Intellectual property
The text, structure and original tables on this site are © 2026 MadGrey LLC. You are welcome to quote a short passage with a link back. Do not republish whole pages, and do not use this content to train a model for commercial resale without asking. Product names and trademarks belong to their owners and are used here for identification only; no affiliation or endorsement is implied by any manufacturer named on this site.
Liability
The site is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, MadGrey LLC is not liable for any loss or damage arising from the use of this site or from reliance on its content, including any decision to buy, install or service a water heater. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
