Privacy policy

What we collect

If you only read the site: we do not ask you for anything. Our analytics provider records standard usage data, described below.

If you use the contact form: we receive the name, email address, topic and message you type. That is sent to our inbox by email and is used only to reply to you and, where relevant, to correct a page. We do not add you to a mailing list, because we do not have one.

What we never collect: payment details (we sell nothing), physical addresses, phone numbers, or any special category data.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages are read and which links are clicked. It sets cookies and records information such as pages viewed, approximate location derived from IP address, referring site, and device and browser type. We use it in aggregate; we do not attempt to identify individual readers.

You can opt out across every site that uses it with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on, or block it with any standard content blocker. Nothing on this site breaks if you do.

Affiliate links

Links to Amazon on this site carry our affiliate tag. When you follow one, Amazon knows you arrived from Heat & Tap and may set its own cookies, which are governed by the Amazon privacy notice, not this one. We receive aggregate reporting on clicks and orders. We never see your Amazon account, your payment details or what else you bought. Our affiliate disclosure explains the commercial side.

Hosting and email

The site is hosted on Vercel, which processes standard server request logs. Contact form messages are delivered through Microsoft Graph on Microsoft 365 infrastructure. Both act as processors for us.

How long we keep things

Contact form emails are kept while a conversation is open and for a reasonable period afterwards so we have a record of corrections made to the site. Analytics data is retained according to the Google Analytics default retention period for this property.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected, to have it deleted, or to object to its processing. Email contact@heatandtap.com and we will deal with it. We do not sell personal information, and we have no mechanism by which we could.

Children

This site is aimed at adults buying home appliances. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
