Heat & Tap

Affiliate disclosure

In plain language: when you buy something through a link on this site, we may earn a commission. It costs you nothing extra, and it does not change what we recommend.

The short version

Heat & Tap contains affiliate links. If you click one and buy something, the retailer pays us a percentage of the sale. You pay the same price you would have paid without the link.

Amazon Associates

As an Amazon Associate, Heat & Tap earns from qualifying purchases. Heat & Tap is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com.

Amazon is currently the only retailer we earn from. Where we link a manufacturer’s own site — and we do, frequently, because that is where the specification sheets live — those links earn us nothing. They are citations.

What commission does not affect

  • Ranking. Commission rates are effectively the same across every water heater and accessory we link, so there is no financial reason to prefer one pick over another. Where a cheaper product is the better buy, it is the pick.
  • What gets covered. No brand has paid for a position, a mention, or a review on this site. There is no sponsored content here, and there are no paid placements.
  • What we say about a product. Every pick on this site carries a “skip it if” line naming a condition under which you should not buy it. We would rather you buy the right thing than buy something.

Prices

We do not publish prices. There is no live price feed for this site, and a price printed in an article goes stale within weeks — which makes it worse than no price, because it is a number you might budget against. Every product link goes to the live retailer listing, where the number shown is the current one.

How links are marked

Affiliate links on this site are tagged rel="sponsored nofollow", open in a new tab, and route through a redirect at /go/ so the destination can be updated in one place. A visible disclosure appears above the first affiliate link on every page that carries one, and every buy button is marked #ad.

Who publishes this

Heat & Tap is published by MadGrey LLC. Questions about this disclosure go to contact@heatandtap.com.
